** Note: The 3rd party SIP device will lose registration and will not work for the end user until the third-party SIP device on site has been updated with the new Authentication ID and Authentication Password created on the iPECS Cloud platform.
Step One is to make sure you can access the device remotely or on-site.
Step Two is to follow the steps below and change the iPECS Cloud platform.
- Log in to your Reseller Account, and navigate to Customers > Modify Existing Customer
- Locate the relevant customer (This can be done using the search bar at the top of the "Customer Name" column)
- Select the clickable button under the "Manager Portal" column to enter the Customer Manager Portal
- In the Customer Manager Portal, navigate to User > User Setup
- Within User Setup, find the user extension you wish to edit. This can also be done via search using either Name or Extension Number
- Click on the user's row, and then click "Modify"
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, below the user's general data, until you see the Device section below. You should see the user's Assigned Device, Authentication ID and Authentication Password
- Click in the Authentication Password box, and input a new, securely generated password. We strongly urge you to follow this linked KB when generating passwords to minimize the risk of unauthorized access and fraudulent activity. Make a temporary note of this password, as you will need to enter this into the user's 3rd Party SIP handset interface.
NOTE - Clicking save at this stage will de-register this device until step 10 has been completed. - Click the "Save" button.
- Via the 3rd Party SIP handset's relevant web interface, update the SIP/Authentication Password using the same password created in step 8. The device should now re-register using the new password.
- The screenshot below shows what the Yealink queue interface would look like if the device is a W70B or earlier. Please note that all third-party devices have different interfaces, and as such, the support engineer making the change to the on-site hardware will need to navigate them. If you are copying the Authentication ID and Authentication Password from the iPECS Cloud portal, please don't paste directly into the GUI interface. First copy to Notepad and then to the GUI interface, so you are making sure you have removed any spaces.
- Destroy any notes of the password created in step 8.
- Once this has been done, we recommend restricting all international calls and only allowing the required destinations; this will further enhance the safeguarding of the third-party device.
